🌻 Joy in the Ordinary: Finding God in Simple Things

Scripture:

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

Ordinary Moments, Extraordinary God

Not every day feels exciting. Some days feel like endless chores—feeding animals, folding laundry, wiping counters again. It can feel small and unnoticed.

But here’s what I’ve learned: the ordinary is where God often whispers the loudest.

The steady rhythm of barn chores becomes a prayer.

The steam from morning coffee feels like His gentle presence.

The laughter of a child echoes His joy.

Holiness isn’t just for Sundays—it’s in muddy boots and bread dough, in sunsets over a fence line, and in the breath we take when we pause long enough to notice.

When I slow down, gratitude grows. And when gratitude grows, joy follows.

How to Practice Joy Today

  • Start with thanks – Whisper, “Thank You, Lord,” for the very next thing you see.

  • Invite Him in – Turn simple moments into worship. Sing a hymn while you wash dishes.

  • Look for beauty – A sunrise, a goat’s silly grin, a flower blooming—God is in the details.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, open my eyes to Your goodness in the small things. Fill my heart with joy, even in the ordinary. Amen.
