He Must Increase, I Must Decrease

Lesson 7 – He Must Increase, I Must Decrease

Scripture: John 3:22–36

Key Verse:
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30)

Introduction:

John the Baptist’s humility shines here. While others worry that Jesus’ ministry is growing larger than John’s, John celebrates it! His joy is in seeing Christ exalted.

Study Points:

  1. True Joy: Joy comes not from recognition but from pointing others to Jesus.

  2. Humility: John models a heart that gladly steps back so Jesus can be seen.

  3. Eternal Life: The one who believes in Jesus has eternal life.

Reflection Questions:

  • What areas of life need more of Jesus and less of you?

  • How can you point people toward Christ this week?

Application:

Write a short prayer of surrender, asking God to “increase” in your life.
