Jesus Clears the Temple

Lesson 5 – Jesus Clears the Temple

Scripture: John 2:13-25

Key Verse:
“Zeal for your house will consume me.” (John 2:17)

Introduction:

When Jesus clears the temple, we see His passion for pure worship and His authority as the Son of God. He isn’t just removing merchants; He’s calling hearts back to God.

Study Points:

  1. Right Worship Matters: Jesus confronts anything that distracts or corrupts worship.

  2. Jesus’ Authority: He speaks of His body as the true temple, foreshadowing His death and resurrection.

  3. Heart Check: We, too, are called to examine our hearts — the “temple” of the Holy Spirit.

Reflection Questions:

  • What “tables” in your life need to be cleared to focus on God?

  • How can you prepare your heart to be a place of true worship?

Application Idea:

I invite you to spend time journaling about distractions or sins that need to be surrendered.
